Letter of the Month

Letter of the Month

Dear Smile-keepers,

We’ve gone through yet another month of this new year and we’re actually making progress! I hope you’ve found it in you to get started on at least one of your year’s goals. Personally, I’m moving steady but most of my goals are covered so far. If you’re still struggling to set or even get started on your goals, here is a blog post I’d shared earlier this year about manifesting your goals. I hope it gets you through this month with a much better and easier approach to your future.

Dear Me, From Me: A Letter From My Future Self

Uncategorized

Dear past and current Lydia,

In light of it still being the month of love, I’ve been inspired to write a letter from the future to both my past and present selves. Most times, we live a life of stress and panic; we’re afraid of taking leaps of faith for our passions or the people we love out of fear of failure or even the fear of beginning, because of the unknown. You’re a perfectionist and always want to come out on top with a bit of praise and, while that’s okay, facing your fears is the first step.

Behind Lydia’s Smile

Uncategorized

I started blogging at the very end of August 2018 (for September that year) and my goal at the time was to share posts about the things that set my soul on fire: music, books, food, spirituality, fashion… everything that made me the girl I am today; I was inspired to bring positivity to the world in the best way I could possibly image, in a world that’s so negative, and I chose blogging as my medium.

Why Self-Love Is Important For Attracting Romantic Love

Law of Attraction 101, Uncategorized

One of the lessons that being single has taught me is the importance of self-love. When you go a while without being romantically involved with someone, you have no choice but to focus on yourself and on how you can grow while you wait for the right person to come along.

How I Manifested Love (In Time For Valentine’s Day)

Law of Attraction 101

You’re probably sighing deeply from the title because you’re either a sceptic when it comes to love and/ or the Law of Attraction and you’ve already emotionally prepared yourself for another lonely Valentine’s Day, or you’re simply curious and want to give this a shot, or find out if this is click bait because maybe it turns out, when you get to the end of this post, that I’ll be sitting on my couch this year, once again, snuggled up with my mom while we watch some of her favourite TV shows like it’s another ordinary night, only this time, I bought loads of chocolate.

The Amateur Aesthete

Art

Welcome to the newest segment of my blog!

When Lydia Smiles is all about the things that make me happy, the things that I love—the things that make me Lydia— which I want to share with you! I’ve been getting the hang of blogging over the last few months and while I love writing about my spiritual journey, positivity and the Law of Attraction, those aren’t the only things that make me smile. Art forms a big part of who I am as a creative. I’m pedantic about my Instagram layout (which is pretty much themed and features a few collages which I spent a good portion of my day putting together for uploading), I love a good aesthetic on pretty much anything, I’m a sucker for detail and a good story and I love me some artwork (especially Renaissance artworks) and that what this is about.

Dear Smile-keepers,

IT’S THE MONTH OF LOVE!

For a lot of people, February is just a drag because it means that the shops are stocking up on Valentine’s day things to sell to you and you’re reminded quite bluntly that you’re the single friend while everyone has plans for February 14th and all you have, for yet another year, is your TV and a box of tissues (you could even blame my fellow Scorpios for this because apparently we created this lovely day to scam everyone into conceiving more Scorpios. I love this idea better). I really want to say that I feel your pain and that we can all virtually hold hands around an imaginary fire and sing some anti-love songs but, firstly, I’m here with a lot of self-love posts lined up for you and secondly, I’m manifesting a Valentine’s day date so I can’t cry with you this year. Sorry.

Dear Smile-keepers,

After spending the last twelve months counting down to the end of it, we begin the cycle all over again in 2019.

A Marumo Christmas

For a lot of people, Christmas is full of excitement for both young and old, especially because of the traditions behind it: buying and decorating the tree, gift shopping and wrapping, the elf that your parents secretly moved around the house to count down the days leading up to Christmas, the story of Santa and his love for cookies and milk and, of course, the advent calendar. It’s magical, I will admit, especially if you add to that list a scene of white flakes falling from the sky and perhaps a fireplace that the family gathers around to unwrap presents before one of your musical relatives plays some Christmas classics from the piano on the other end of the room.

Dear Smile-keepers,

December marks the final round of the year—the last month to squeeze in your 2018 new year’s resolutions or tick an item or two off of a very important to-do list. For me, it’s also marks another month of my college break and ultimately, like many people, the one time of the year that I really get to be with my family.
