When I started my blog, all I knew was that I wanted to write something with the hopes that one person would read it and that it would make that one person’s day. My blog was not only primarily inspired by the fact that a lot of people often meet me and ask, “why do you smile so much?” but also by the sad fact that there’s just so much bad in the world and I wanted to have a little positivity corner for anyone seeking a bit of sunshine in their day too
(this blog was also inspired by my recently acknowledged dream of me wanting to be a magazine editor lol). What I’m getting at is, I never intended to blog for statistics or to gain attention or freebies. I just wanted to write because I love doing it, and help someone else smile because I love doing that too. However, I’ve come to realise that I want to blog for a very long time and I do want to grow as a blogger because I have hopes and dreams for When Lydia Smiles and unfortunately,
part of being serious about blogging means looking at numbers.
Since we’re pretty much still at the beginning of the year, while I’m working on my general life goals, I was inspired by lots of other bloggers to set goals for my blog for each month and see how it goes. Because I have a casual approach to my passion-driven blog and because I don’t post any content on here unless it was properly/ divinely inspired to—in other words, not forced—my goals for the month of February are going to be small… because that’s how babies learn to walk; they take little steps. The following blog goals are also linked to my Twitter because that’s where I generate traffic from, so I’ll throw in some Twitter goals too):
My best views ever were in January when I got a total of 300 page views. This month, I’d like to reach 500 page views.
I’ve had a total of 379 visitors to my page thus far and would love to grow it to 500 visitors by the end of February.
I’m currently followed by 89 amazing people (thank you so much!) and would love to make it to 200 followers by the end of February.
Twitter’s been very good to me in January and, as I drafted this post a week from when I posted it, I was on a total of 477 followers. The tweet I’d put out to make new friends helped me pass my initial goal of wanting to have a total of 550 followers by the end of the month and I found myself with over 800 followers even before the second week of the month. I’m very proud of myself for nailing this one so effortlessly.
I’m following a handful of blogs myself (I’m honestly not sure how many, but I do know that it’s not enough) and I want to follow more of you so, leave me your links in the comments or tweet them to me because I really want to engage with as many bloggers as I can!
The overall goal for me is to grow my stats and beat January because that was the best month for my blog thus far, according to my stats. I think I’m doing quite well considering that my blog is only 5 months old this month. From here, it’s onwards and upwards and I can’t wait to grow with all of you.
What are your blogging goals, if you’ve set any? I think this approach (although I’m not a numbers person) might turn out to be exciting to me and I can’t wait to see if my relaxed approach will help me reach my month’s targets.
